Maersk Field Reps Receive Customer
Data via Broden System
Mountain Lakes, NJ --Broden, Inc.
developed, designed and implemented at Maersk-Sealand
a custom sales forecasting system that collects and
distributes real-time customer data between field representatives
and the corporate office. The system, termed GAMP (Global
Account-Based Marketing Plan), gives field reps, at
their laptops, accurate and up-to-date data for making
decisions locally to better serve customers.
The system enables reps and management
to track and project volumes of cargoes, determine the
most profitable mix of cargo on a ship, and ensure that
ships are not over-or under-subscribed.
Maersk-Sealand is the world's largest container steamship
company with a fleet of 120 vessels calling on 6000
ports in more than 35 countries.
Broden's solution synchronizes data,
so in less than 15 minutes Maersk's corporate office
managers and 225 field representatives receive updated
data. When computers are idle, software by Synchrologic
updates and synchronizes data across Maersk's networks.
The system keeps 25 million records up to date in a
Microsoft SQL server database.
Previously, field reps spent several
hours per week retrieving and updating data that was
seldom in synch or current between the corporate server
and their laptops.
Since it implementation, GAMP has more than paid for
itself. As the industry's leading forecasting tool,
both field reps and management can take advantage of
the information in GAMP to manage logistics, set budgets
and improve customer relationships.
